Treatment Approach & Areas of Expertise
I assess and treat adults coping with a variety of stressors including individuals experiencing emotional difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment to major life events, and preparing for and healing from medical procedures including bariatric and cosmetic surgeries. Mood symptoms can have a negative impact on relationships, self-esteem, one’s ability to participate in meaningful activities, and management of health behaviors related to sleep, physical activity, and pain. I bring an understanding of how biological, psychological, cultural, and social factors are interrelated and influence people’s lived experience.
My diverse training has afforded me skills in a variety of treatment approaches including cognitive- behavioral, acceptance and commitment, humanistic, and psychodynamic therapies. Furthermore, I am board certified in rehabilitation psychology, with an expertise in helping individuals and their loved ones effectively cope with physical disability, chronic medical conditions, and health challenges and changes. I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and value cultural humility. I am a strengths-based psychologist with a passion for increasing motivation and eliciting my clients’ inner strengths and resilience. I believe that people are the expert on themselves. As such, I promote collaborative treatment planning, self-compassion, and self-empowerment through the therapeutic process.
